My wife and I were both very excited to watch a new episode of Rules of Engagement tonight. It’s like a more grown up version of how I met your mother and is good for some brainless laughs. My wife keeps telling me I remind her of Jeff in some ways - not sure if that’s a good thing - but what the hell. Give it a shot if you get the chance, you might be surprised.

I’m now contributing to the Whiteyball blog about the St. Louis Cardinals, baseball and well, anything we feel like. Check out my first post “Would having Izzy back be all that bad?”
I’m going to help move the site onto a nice Wordpress blog at whiteyball.com shortly. I’m very excited about this and look forward to working with Dustin, Mike and Matt. Good stuff to come. I’ve got a slew of good recipes I’m going to add - not to mention wine - so stay tuned.

Why the hell does the news about steroids still capture front page news when Bonds, The Rocket, Big Mac and others are implicated? Aren’t we tired of this crap yet? Rhetorical question.
Don’t get me wrong, I think we need to educate young people on the dangers of steroids - I’ve seen the fits in college and they’re not pretty. But enough already. Steroids is bad - McGwire might have listened to his legal advisers, but they should have consulted a PR practitioner to put a better public face on it.
Here’s what I know, I was there for 62 with my mom. Also got to see 69 and 70 with mom and dad. Very special baseball moments for me. 62 is still right up there with seeing the Cards win game 5 in 2006. I don’t think there is a player in baseball that I made sure I stayed glued to the TV for - not even Pujols.
I don’t condone what he did, but I would be a hypocrit if I cried morality for it now. And you know what, that includes the rest of you as well. Let’s learn from it and move on. Seriously, most of us don’t care anymore.

The new Fox show Lie to Me caught me eye awhile back (you know, from the producers of 24 - had to check it out), as well as intriguing my wife. We were able to catch it tonight - after getting little man down - and were pleasantly surprised. We’ve got the DVR set to record the series now and look forward to the upcoming shows.
I’m not a huge Tim Roth fan - didn’t like his casting in the Hulk - but he fits this role nicely and was very impressive. It was also interesting to see Kelli Williams rolling again. We used to love watching the Practice
Here’s the shows description from the Fox page. Give it a try.
From writer Samuel Baum (”The Evidence”) and the executive producers of 24 and “Arrested Development” comes LIE TO ME, a drama series inspired by a true story about a deception expert who can read the human face, body and voice to expose the truth in criminal cases and investigations.
When you itch your chin, wring your hands, scratch your nose or increase your swallowing, DR. CAL LEIGHTMAN knows you’re lying. And he doesn’t just think so - he knows so. Whether it be family, friends or complete strangers - he knows when they’re holding something back. More accurate than any polygraph test, he is a human lie detector.
Dr. Cal Leightman heads up a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations and private individuals when they’ve hit a roadblock on their searches for the truth. Joining him are the foremost experts in the field of behavioral psychology: DR. GILLIAN FOSTER is the doctor’s professional partner and intellectual counterpart, a master of deception equally comfortable with lying and concealing her emotions; the other is Dr. Leightman’s lead researcher WILL LOKER who says everything on his mind and seemingly lacks the ability to lie. RIA TORRES (Monica Raymund), the newest member of the team, uses her natural and uncanny ability to read body language to catch the clues that her professional partners miss.
Brian Grazer, David Nevins and Samuel Baum serve as executive producers in conjunction with 20th Century Fox Television on this intriguing series based on the science developed by pioneering behavioral psychologists. In its cases and in its character relationships, this unique procedural and character drama is not simply a search for a criminal, but a search for human truth.
LIE TO ME probes the very heart of human nature and explores the idea that there’s nothing more revealing than when we choose to tell the truth and when we decide to lie.

So my wife and I were walking through the store the other day when we ran across some Thai food kits in the chinese food section. Needless to say we’re both fans of Thai and since there really isn’t a good Thai place closer than 50 miles or so, we decided to pick up a few A Taste of Thai products. Specifically the Pad Thai Sauce and the rice noodles.
There was a nifty recipe on the back that I changed to incorporate mushrooms and a nice hot chili sauce we love and holy cow - I made Thai. It was pretty damn good. Now it wasn’t the best, but for here at home it was just right. I should have gotten two of the sauce packets. Regardless, if you’re in the mood for Thai and don’t feel like making one of those complex sauces from scratch - you should give it a try. It was a fairly quick and straightforward way to create a nice change of pace meal.
